The SANDVIK COROMANT 5758234 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert from the CoroThread 266 series, engineered for cutting external NPT threads at 11.5 TPI. The insert carries a TiN coating applied via PVD process, providing wear resistance during high-volume threading operations. With a 60-degree included angle and two teeth per side, it produces precise tapered pipe thread forms in a single pass. The 0.2190-inch thickness and 1/2-inch inscribed circle (12.70 mm) conform to standard 266-series toolholders. This insert is right-hand configured and intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC lathes or manual threading setups.
This insert is suited for external NPT pipe thread applications in production and job-shop environments where consistent thread form and tool life are critical. The 1020 grade solid carbide substrate with TiN PVD coating handles moderate-to-high cutting speeds on steels and similar materials. It seats in 266-series toolholders and is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per transaction. Typical applications include threading hydraulic fittings, pipe nipples, and fluid-system components requiring NPT-standard tapered external threads.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 series toolholders accepting the 266RG-22NT02A115E insert style. Confirm toolholder pocket size and insert style code before installation.
Insert seating should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed away from the work zone before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and screw specified for the 266-series toolholder to avoid cracking the carbide or distorting the pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
