The SANDVIK COROMANT 5758081 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert from the CoroThread 266 series, designed for right-hand internal UN thread cutting at 4 threads per inch (TPI). It features a PVD-applied TiN coating for wear resistance and extended tool life in demanding threading applications. The insert carries a 1/2-inch (12.70 mm) inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.2190 inches (5.56 mm), and a 60-degree included angle with a single tooth per side. This insert is installed and replaced by machinists and tooling specialists on CNC lathes and turning centers performing internal threading operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
This insert is suited for internal UN thread production in machining environments where consistent thread form and finish quality are required. The CoroThread 266 platform is used in precision turning applications across general machining, aerospace component manufacturing, and industrial parts production. The chipbreaker style is designated A, and the insert style code is 266 with size code 22. It is appropriate for shops running high-repeatability threading cycles where insert-to-insert consistency is critical.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 series toolholders that accept laydown threading inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and size code 22. The manufacturers catalog number for this insert is 266RL-22V381A0402E 1020.
Installation and replacement of threading inserts should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and all motion axes locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified for the CoroThread 266 toolholder clamping screw; do not exceed the torque guidance provided by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify thread form with a thread gauge or test cut before returning the part program to full production cycling.
