The SANDVIK COROMANT 5757969 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal NPT pipe threads. Part of the CoroThread 266 series, this insert uses a PVD-applied dual-layer TiCrAlN/TiAlN coating for wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. It produces right-hand internal threads at 11.5 threads per inch (TPI) with a 60-degree included angle. The insert features a single tooth per side and an A-style chipbreaker geometry. It is sized with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and measures 5/32 inches thick. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians working with pipe thread applications install this insert on compatible CoroThread 266 toolholders.
This insert is suited for threading internal NPT pipe threads in production and job-shop environments. Common applications include machining pipe fittings, manifolds, and fluid-system components where pressure-tight NPT thread forms are required. The right-hand orientation and 11.5 TPI specification align with standard NPT thread requirements for 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch pipe sizes. The solid carbide substrate and PVD coating support consistent thread quality across steel, stainless, and similar workpiece materials. Insert style code is 266, insert size code is 16, and the manufacturer catalog number is 266RL-16NT01A115M 1125.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 series toolholders accepting insert style 266, size code 16. Verify toolholder bore and clamping requirements against manufacturer documentation before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or CNC toolroom personnel following standard insert-change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before handling any cutting insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and clamping screw for the CoroThread 266 toolholder to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the seating pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before securing the new insert.
