The SANDVIK COROMANT 5757961 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert from the CoroThread 266 series, engineered for right-hand internal threading applications. It cuts a 60-degree V thread profile at 12 to 24 threads per inch (TPI), covering a pitch range of 1.00 to 2.00 mm. The insert carries a PVD-applied dual-layer TiAlN and TiCrAlN coating for wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed threading operations. With a 3/8-inch (9.53 mm) inscribed circle and a thickness of 5/32 inch (3.97 mm), it is sized for standard CoroThread 266 holders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in turning centers and threading lathes for precision internal thread production.
This insert is suited for internal threading on CNC lathes and turning centers in production machining environments, including job shops and manufacturing facilities. It is designed to produce 60-degree V threads in a right-hand direction, making it applicable to standard unified and metric thread forms within the 12 to 24 TPI range. The A chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in internal bores. Typical materials threaded with carbide grade 1125 and PVD coating include steels and other machinable alloys.
Designed for use with CoroThread 266 series threading holders accepting insert size code 16 with a 0.1732-inch (4.40 mm) hole diameter. Verify holder compatibility against the CoroThread 266 system specifications before installation.
Installation and replacement of threading inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a stopped, locked-out, and tagged-out state. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the insert securely in the holder pocket; do not overtighten or use impact tools on the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid edge chipping prior to use.
