The SANDVIK COROMANT 5757936 is a laydown threading insert designed for single-point external thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroThread 266 series, it cuts right-hand UN threads at 14 threads per inch (TPI) with a 60-degree included angle. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a dual-layer PVD coating of TiCrAlN and TiAlN for wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding threading operations. It measures 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 5/32 inch thick. Machinists and CNC operators working in production environments install this insert to achieve consistent thread form and tool life on external UN-standard threaded features.
This insert is suited for external UN threading applications in production machining environments, including job shops and manufacturing facilities running high-volume or precision threading operations. The CoroThread 266 insert style is designed for use in compatible SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 toolholders and boring bars configured for laydown insert seating. The single-tooth-per-side geometry produces full-form UN threads in one or multiple passes depending on the programmed infeed strategy.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 series toolholders and turning tool bodies that accept the 266 insert style with a 0.1732 inch (4.40 mm) mounting hole diameter. Verify toolholder designation against the CoroThread 266 system to confirm proper seating and clamping.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seating and thread form with a thread gauge before returning the machine to production.
