The SANDVIK COROMANT 5757934 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting external Acme threads on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroThread 266 series, this insert features a 5 threads-per-inch (TPI) pitch, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle (12.70 mm), and a TiN PVD coating applied for wear resistance and extended tool life. The 60-degree included angle and right-hand orientation make it suited to standard right-hand Acme thread forms. At 5.56 mm (0.2190 inches) thick, the insert seats securely in compatible 266-series toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking, toolroom, and production turning environments install this insert for precision external thread generation.
This insert is used for external Acme thread cutting in turning applications on ferrous and compatible workpiece materials. The Acme thread form is common in power-transmission components such as lead screws, jack screws, and valve stems. The F chipbreaker geometry is suited to controlled-chip threading operations. This insert is sold individually (package quantity of 1) and is subject to a minimum order quantity of 10 units. This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and secure with the appropriate clamping screw to manufacturer torque specification found in the CoroThread 266 toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for wear or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and thread accuracy.
