The SANDVIK COROMANT 5757932 is a laydown threading insert from the CoroThread 266 series, engineered for external UN thread cutting in metal machining operations. This solid carbide insert carries a dual PVD coating of TiAlN and TiCrAlN, which provides thermal resistance and edge hardness at elevated cutting speeds. It is a right-hand insert ground to cut 12 threads per inch with a 60-degree included angle and a single tooth per side profile. With an inscribed circle of 3/8 inches and a thickness of 0.1563 inches, this insert fits the standard CoroThread 266 toolholder system. Machinists and CNC lathe operators working in job shops, production turning cells, or maintenance repair environments are the primary users.
This insert is suited for external UN threading on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both production and jobbing applications. The 266 series platform is a common choice in turning centers and CNC lathes where consistent thread form accuracy and insert repeatability are required. The chipbreaker designation A is built into the geometry for controlled chip flow during threading passes. Typical applications include threading steel, alloy, and stainless components where a sharp, durable edge is needed across multiple passes.
Designed for use in CoroThread 266 series toolholders that accept the 16 insert size code. Consult SANDVIK COROMANT toolholder documentation to confirm holder compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC toolsetter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is removed or secured before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Verify insert seating and thread form with the first test pass before committing to full production runs.
