The SANDVIK COROMANT 5757903 is a laydown threading insert designed for external metric threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroThread 266 series, this solid carbide insert carries a PVD-applied TiCrAlN/TiAlN dual-layer coating that resists heat and wear during continuous threading passes. It is configured for right-hand external cutting of Metric 60-degree threads at a 2.50 mm pitch. The insert measures 0.375 inches (3/8 inches) inscribed circle and 0.1563 inches thick. Machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert into compatible CoroThread 266 toolholders on production and job-shop turning equipment.
This insert is suited for external metric thread turning on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both production and precision machining environments. The 1125 manufacturer grade and PVD TiCrAlN/TiAlN coating make it appropriate for threading operations where tool life and surface finish consistency are priorities. The chipbreaker style is designated A, and the insert carries a single tooth per side. It is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order, making it a standard replenishment item for shops running CoroThread 266 tooling systems.
Designed for use with CoroThread 266 series toolholders that accept the 266 insert style in size code 16 with a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. Verify toolholder designation against the manufacturers catalog number 266RG-16MM01A250M 1125 before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping force — do not overtighten by hand estimation. Confirm thread pitch and insert orientation match the programmed toolpath before resuming production.
