The SANDVIK COROMANT 5757699 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external 60-degree V thread applications. Manufactured under the CoroThread 266 series and carrying grade 1125, it features a dual-layer PVD coating of TiCrAlN and TiAlN for wear resistance and heat management during threading operations. The insert covers a thread pitch range of 12 to 24 TPI (1.00 to 2.00 mm pitch), making it suitable for a range of fastener thread profiles. It is configured for left-hand cutting, with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a thickness of 5/32 inch (0.1563 inches decimal), and a corner radius of 0.13 mm. Machinists and CNC lathe operators use this insert in threading toolholders compatible with the 266 insert style.
This insert is suited for external threading operations on lathes and turning centers in production and job-shop environments. The left-hand orientation makes it appropriate for left-hand thread cutting cycles, reverse-feed threading, or back-turning setups. The 60-degree V thread standard covers unified and metric thread forms within the covered pitch range. The chipbreaker designation A and single tooth-per-side geometry are consistent with precision threading applications where controlled chip formation is required.
Designed for use with CoroThread 266 series toolholders that accept insert style 266, size code 16, left-hand configuration. Confirm toolholder insert pocket geometry before installation.
Threading insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct torx or clamping screw specified for the CoroThread 266 toolholder to secure the insert at the proper seating torque per the toolholder manufacturer documentation. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the cutting parameters specified for grade 1125 and the applicable workpiece material.
