The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756273 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert in WCMX style, designed for use in indexable insert drills in metal-cutting applications. The insert carries a CVD-applied TiCN/TiN dual-layer coating that improves wear resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. It features a 0.5000 inch (12.70 mm) inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch), and a 1.20 mm corner radius. The trigon shape with a 7-degree relief angle and chipbreaker designation 51 supports controlled chip evacuation during drilling operations. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
This insert is suited for right-hand cutting operations in general metalworking environments, including production drilling in steel and other ferrous materials. It is typically installed in compatible indexable drill bodies used in CNC machining centers and turning centers. The WCMX insert style is a common format used in short-hole drilling applications where replaceable carbide inserts are used at the drill tip. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working in manufacturing and job-shop environments are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement indexable drill insert for use in WCMX-style indexable drill bodies requiring an insert size 8 with a 0.5000 inch inscribed circle and 51 chipbreaker geometry.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer when seating the insert to avoid over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Follow the drill body manufacturer's tooling guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures during installation.
