The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756263 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable insert drills across a range of metal-cutting applications. This insert carries the WCMX style designation with a Trigon shape, a 1/2 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.1875 inch thickness. The 58 chipbreaker geometry and a 1.20 mm corner radius help manage chip flow and reduce cutting forces during drilling operations. A CVD-applied TiCN/TiN dual-layer coating provides wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. The insert is right-hand cutting and suited for CNC machining centers and dedicated drill toolholders used in production environments. Machinists and tooling specialists handling metal-removal operations are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is intended for use in compatible WCMX-style indexable drill bodies commonly found in horizontal and vertical machining centers. It suits general-purpose and interrupted-cut drilling in steel and similar workpiece materials where CVD-coated carbide grades perform reliably. The WCMX style and size 8 insert dimensions are standard across several indexable drill platforms, making this a frequently stocked replacement insert in job shops and production facilities running high-volume drilling cycles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for indexable drill bodies accepting WCMX-style inserts with a size 8 designation and a 1/2 inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping screw hole diameter of 0.1693 inch (4.30 mm) before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key at the recommended seat-clamp torque specified by the drill body manufacturer — do not rely on feel alone when seating carbide inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for debris or damage before installing a new insert. Dispose of worn inserts according to applicable carbide recycling or hazardous-material guidelines.
