Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756092 is a VNMG332-MM solid carbide turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance, thermal protection, and a low-friction outer surface. The insert features a diamond (35-degree included angle) shape, neutral hand orientation, and an MM chip breaker geometry engineered to control chips across a wide range of cutting conditions. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for medium finishing and semi-finishing passes on demanding workpiece materials.

This insert is intended primarily for machining stainless steel (ISO material group M), where controlled chip formation and coating durability are critical. It is commonly used in production turning, contract machining, and maintenance shops running Swiss-style, gang-tool, or turret-style lathes. The MM chip breaker geometry works across a range of feeds and depths, making it a practical choice when operators need consistent chip evacuation without constant parameter adjustment. Each insert provides four usable cutting edges, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume turning applications.

Key Features

  • CVD multilayer coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for wear resistance and thermal stability
  • MM chip breaker geometry optimized for stainless steel and medium to semi-finish turning
  • Four cutting edges per insert for extended tool life and lower cost per edge
  • 35-degree diamond insert shape (VNMG style) with neutral hand for versatile toolholder compatibility
  • Clamp and pin insert holding method for rigid, repeatable seating
  • ISO code VNMG 16 04 08-MM 2015 for direct cross-reference and replacement sourcing

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement for VNMG-style turning insert toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick diamond insert with clamp and pin holding. ISO code VNMG 16 04 08-MM 2015 can be used for direct cross-reference to compatible toolholder seats.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating a new edge, as a contaminated pocket can cause premature insert failure or dimensional inaccuracy.
