The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756062 is a VNMG332-QM 1105 indexable turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert is engineered for general-purpose steel turning with the durability to handle stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in secondary applications. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0313 inch corner radius. The QM chip breaker geometry controls chip evacuation at a range of feed rates, reducing vibration and heat buildup at the cutting edge. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders as part of routine insert indexing and replacement workflows.
This insert fits production turning applications in job shops, aerospace shops, and general machining environments. Its primary design target is steel (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M, P, and S). The QM chip breaker geometry and 1105 grade make it well-suited for medium finishing to light roughing passes on ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. The neutral hand orientation allows installation in a wide range of standard VNMG toolholders without directional restriction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for use in standard VNMG toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert. ISO designation VNMG 16 04 08-QM 1105. Compatible holding methods include clamp and pin-style toolholder systems with clearance code N and tolerance code M. Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts; each package contains 1 insert.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in an e-stopped, zero-energy state and the spindle fully locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified for the toolholder to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamping pin or screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping sequence when using dual clamp-and-pin holders.
