The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756037 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision lathe and turning center operations. Manufactured to the VNMG 16 04 08-MF 5015 ISO standard, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V-style) with a neutral hand orientation. The MF chip breaker geometry is engineered for finishing and medium turning applications, producing controlled chip flow at moderate depths of cut and feed rates. The uncoated 5015 carbide grade delivers a sharp, consistent edge suited to close-tolerance work. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it fits standard VNMG toolholders and provides four usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is primarily suited for turning steel (ISO P workpiece material) and is also rated for cast iron (ISO K). Typical applications include external turning, facing, and light profiling on CNC lathes and manual engine lathes in both production shops and maintenance environments. The MF chip breaker geometry makes it a strong choice for finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators in metalworking trades are the primary installers and users of this insert.
Designed for use in VNMG-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. ISO code VNMG 16 04 08-MF 5015 identifies direct cross-reference and toolholder compatibility. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary rated material is cast iron (ISO K). Consult the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholder catalog for confirmed holder matches.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians following standard turning insert indexing procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Ensure the insert seat and shim are clean and free of chips before seating the insert to maintain accurate tool geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications for the clamp screw, and verify insert seating visually before returning the machine to service.
