The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755934 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the VCET2203-UM 1105 designation, it features a 35-degree diamond insert shape with a 0.0039 inch (0.10 mm) corner radius, delivering sharp, accurate cutting geometry suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert is PVD-coated with TiAlN for thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. With a 1105 manufacturer grade, it targets steel and stainless steel applications. Installed via screw-holding method, this insert is intended for use by machinists and toolroom technicians working with CoroTurn 107 compatible toolholders.
This insert is primarily intended for cutting steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation during light to medium turning passes on these materials. Its neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to a range of approach angles without requiring a handed toolholder. Typical applications include OD turning of shaft components, precision diameter work, and finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities in production or job-shop environments.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting VCET 11 03 geometry inserts with screw-clamping. ISO code VCET 11 03 01-UM 1105. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert size code 2203 compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten by feel alone; follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure full, flat contact and prevent premature insert failure.
