The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755899 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This VCGT-style diamond insert carries a 35-degree included angle and is coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 via a PVD coating process, providing high wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series, which is engineered for positive-rake, screw-clamped toolholders. With two cutting edges and a 0.2 mm corner radius, this insert delivers sharp, consistent performance in finishing and light roughing cuts on steel and related materials.
This insert is suited for turning applications on steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. It is a neutral-hand insert, making it versatile across a range of toolholder orientations. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium depth-of-cut finishing passes where chip control and surface finish are priorities. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production turning cells, and aerospace or general engineering environments will find this insert appropriate for tight-tolerance external and internal turning operations requiring a small inscribed circle and precise edge geometry.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamped toolholders that accept VCGT-style inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and screw-hole diameter of 0.1102 inches. ISO designation VCGT 11 03 02-UM 1125. Suitable for turning steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium as indicated by ISO material codes P, M, N, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolsetter. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer and do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamp force. Verify insert seating is flush against the toolholder pocket before resuming cutting operations.
