The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755883 is a VCMT-style turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations. Built on the CoroTurn 107 platform, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 7-degree relief angle. It is manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer PVD coating, grade 1125, which supports cutting performance in steel and difficult-to-machine materials. The MF chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium to light finishing cuts. Holding is accomplished via screw clamp, and the insert carries a clearance code of C with a tolerance code of M. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning centers and CNC lathes running steel, stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium workpieces. The MF geometry targets finishing passes where controlled chip formation and tight surface finish tolerances are required. The 0.2 mm corner radius (ISO designation VCMT 11 03 02-MF 1125) keeps edge pressure low on thin-wall and precision components. It is appropriate for both production and job-shop environments running P, M, and S material classifications per ISO cutting material codes.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept VCMT-style inserts with screw-clamp mounting. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel; secondary compatible materials include stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium per ISO material codes P, M, and S.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state. Use the correct torx or hex key specified for the CoroTurn 107 clamp screw - do not overtighten, as excess torque can crack the insert or damage the seat. Inspect the pocket seat and clamp screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation and hand before resuming cuts.
