The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755766 is a VBMT-style solid carbide turning insert with a 35-degree diamond shape, designed for precision metal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with TiCN and TiN for improved wear resistance and surface finish performance, this insert carries the 1525 manufacturer grade designation. It features a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle, a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius, and an overall insert length of 0.6223 inches. The PM chip breaker geometry and screw-holding method make it a reliable choice for production turning in both roughing and finishing applications. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for external and internal diameter turning work across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This insert is suited for use in turning centers and lathes where a VBMT-style toolholder with screw clamping is employed. The 35-degree diamond (V) insert shape provides clearance for profiling and contour turning operations. The ISO code designation is VBMT 16 04 08-PM 1525, which aligns with standard VBMT toolholder pockets used in production machining environments. The 5-degree relief angle (clearance code B, tolerance code M) is appropriate for general-purpose turning of steel and similar materials. It is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed to fit standard VBMT-style turning toolholders with screw clamping that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thick diamond insert. Verify toolholder pocket specifications against ISO code VBMT 16 04 08 before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop, locked-out, and de-energized state. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
