The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755745 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the VBMT style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the H13A uncoated carbide grade and UM chip breaker geometry, this insert is engineered primarily for finishing and semi-finishing passes on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It features a 35-degree diamond insert shape with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series and is held in place by a screw-clamp system. Machinists and CNC setup technicians working in precision manufacturing and job-shop environments will find this insert well-suited to controlled-depth turning applications.
This insert is intended for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders compatible with VBMT-style inserts. Primary application is turning steel (ISO material group P) with stainless steel (ISO material group M) as a secondary workpiece material. The UM chip breaker geometry supports stable chip control at moderate feed rates during finishing cuts. The ISO designation for this insert is VBMT 16 04 08-UM H13A. Typical installation environments include both manual and automated CNC turning cells in industrial machining operations.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders that accept VBMT-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary compatible workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO code M). ISO insert designation VBMT 16 04 08-UM H13A.
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp screw to manufacturer torque specifications for the toolholder. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper clamping and accurate tool-nose positioning.
