The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755717 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT332-MM 2035 designation, engineered for precision turning operations on stainless steel and other challenging workpiece materials. This insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating over a carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The 35-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code V) provides a sharp, acute cutting geometry suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The MM chip breaker geometry controls chip evacuation effectively in stainless steel applications. This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series and is installed by machinists and CNC turning specialists.
This insert fits turning applications where a neutral-hand, screw-held indexable insert is required. It is suited for external turning operations on stainless steel components in production and job-shop environments. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thickness, and 1/32-inch corner radius define its size class, making it appropriate for moderate depth-of-cut finishing work. The CoroTurn 107 series designation identifies the compatible toolholder family. Two cutting edges are available per insert, allowing the insert to be indexed before replacement.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting VBMT-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Primary workpiece material designation is M (stainless steel) per ISO classification. ISO insert code: VBMT 16 04 08-MM 2035.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe indexed position before handling inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and screw for the CoroTurn 107 toolholder to secure the insert clamp screw — refer to the toolholder manufacturer specification for fastener torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure accurate edge location.
