The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755682 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and conventional lathes. Formatted to the VBMT 16 04 02-PF 5015 ISO code, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a 5-degree relief angle and a 0.20 mm corner radius. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series, engineered for screw-clamped toolholders in light to medium-duty cutting applications. The uncoated, bright-finish carbide substrate in grade 5015 provides sharp edge integrity and thermal stability during dry or wet cutting passes on steel and cast iron workpieces.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations in steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) materials in both production and job-shop environments. The PF chip breaker geometry promotes positive chip formation and controlled chip evacuation at lower depths of cut and feed rates typical of finishing passes. The neutral hand designation makes it compatible with both right-hand and left-hand toolholders in standard VBMT-style seats. Machinists and CNC operators in aerospace, general metalworking, and maintenance machining applications will find this insert applicable across a range of part geometries.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamped toolholders accepting VBMT-style inserts. Compatible with toolholders specifying insert size code 330, inscribed circle 3/8 inch, insert thickness 3/16 inch, clearance code B, and tolerance code M per ISO VBMT designation standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge height consistency.
