The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755673 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the VBMT330-PF 1515 designation, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (Shape Code V) with a 0.0079-inch (0.20 mm) corner radius, giving it a sharp, low-cutting-force geometry suited for finishing and light roughing passes. The multilayer CVD coating stack — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN — delivers wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous or interrupted cuts on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It mounts via screw-lock (Clearance Code B, Tolerance Code M) and provides two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is intended for turning steel (ISO material group P) and stainless steel (ISO material group M) in production and job-shop environments. The PF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations where controlled chip evacuation and consistent surface finish are priorities. Typical applications include OD turning of alloy steel shafts, stainless fittings, and similar components on manual or CNC lathes. It belongs to the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series, which uses a screw-on insert holding method compatible with CoroTurn 107 toolholders. The ISO designation is VBMT 16 04 02-PF 1515. Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series screw-on toolholders that accept VBMT insert geometry. Compatible with primary workpiece material Steel (ISO Code P) and secondary workpiece material Stainless Steel (ISO Code M). ISO insert designation VBMT 16 04 02-PF 1515.
Insert seating and torque should follow the toolholder manufacturer specifications for the CoroTurn 107 screw-on clamping system. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can affect insert position and surface finish. Disposal of worn carbide inserts should comply with applicable local regulations for carbide and metallic waste.
