The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755671 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the VBMT style with a 35-degree diamond insert shape, it carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN that provides wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and light interrupted cuts. The insert measures 0.638 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It uses a screw-clamping hold method and fits the CoroTurn 107 series toolholding system. Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators in production machining environments.
This insert is suited for turning steel as the primary workpiece material and stainless steel as a secondary application. The PF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing passes at light to moderate depths of cut and feed rates, producing controlled chip formation on ductile materials. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand turning setups. It carries ISO code VBMT 16 04 04-PF 1515 and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order, making it appropriate for shop floor replenishment or initial tooling setup on a new program.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting VBMT style inserts with a screw clamping hold method and a 4.40 mm hole diameter. ISO designation VBMT 16 04 04-PF 1515 can be used to identify compatible holder pockets from other manufacturers following ISO toolholder standards.
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop condition and all axes locked before accessing the turret. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat and secure the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the feed and speed parameters established during program qualification for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut.
