The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755669 is a VBMT-style turning insert designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISO designation VBMT 16 04 04-MM 2035 and belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series. The insert is made from solid carbide and features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating that supports high-speed cutting in demanding materials. With a 35-degree diamond shape, a 5-degree relief angle, and the MM chip breaker geometry, it is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel. The insert measures 16.61 mm in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, making it suitable for medium to semi-finishing passes.
This insert is specified for use on stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material code M. The CoroTurn 107 series is designed for external turning with screw-clamped toolholders that accept VBMT-style inserts. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand turning setups. Machinists in production and job-shop environments select this grade when tool life and surface finish consistency on austenitic or duplex stainless alloys are the priority. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in screw-clamped VBMT-style toolholders within the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series. Intended for external turning of stainless steel workpieces per ISO material code M.
This insert is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate CoroTurn 107 screw-clamp toolholder. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the correct Torx or Allen driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge registration and prevent premature failure.
