The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755640 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This VBMT-style insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a TiAlN PVD coating and an MF chip breaker geometry, making it well suited for finishing and medium finishing passes. The insert measures 0.638 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. With two cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent performance across a range of metalworking applications. It belongs to SANDVIK COROMANT's CoroTurn 107 series and is held in place via a screw-clamp insert holding method.
This insert is primarily intended for machining steel and is rated for secondary use on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is used in production turning environments where close tolerances and controlled chip formation are required. The MF chip breaker is optimized for light to medium depths of cut and lower feed rates, making it a standard choice for finishing operations on P-class and M-class workpiece materials. Machinists working in job shops, production facilities, and toolroom environments will find this insert compatible with standard VBMT-style tool holders in the CoroTurn 107 system.
Designed for use with VBMT-style screw-clamp tool holders compatible with the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series. Suited for primary workpiece material steel (ISO P) and secondary materials including stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium (ISO M, S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly in the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the tool holder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure.
