The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755624 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Conforming to the VBMT 11 03 04-MF 1125 ISO designation, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.4201-inch length. The 1125 grade substrate carries a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, delivering thermal resistance and wear protection suited for steel and superalloy cutting. Two usable cutting edges per insert are provided with an MF chip breaker geometry optimized for medium finishing passes.
This insert is suited for medium to light finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. It fits within the CoroTurn 107 series tooling system and is appropriate for positive-rake external turning applications in both production and job-shop environments. Machinists and CNC operators working with P- and M-classification workpiece materials will find the MF chip breaker geometry effective for controlled chip formation and consistent surface finish at moderate cutting depths and feeds. Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting VBMT-style inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium per ISO material classifications P, M, and S.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine spindle stopped and all motion axes locked per standard CNC lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to engage the screw-clamp holding method — follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the specific holder model in use. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and prevent micro-fracture at the cutting edge. Verify insert hand orientation before torquing to prevent toolholder damage.
