The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755614 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Cataloged under the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert carries the ANSI designation VBMT221 and ISO designation VBMT110304. The 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a sharp, acute cutting geometry suited to light finishing passes. The H13A uncoated carbide grade delivers high wear resistance and is optimized for cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and special or super alloys. With a 0.40 mm corner radius and a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, it is a standard finishing insert for medium-duty turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible CoroTurn 107 toolholders.
This insert is intended for finishing operations on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, aluminum, and special or super alloys in both production and job-shop turning environments. The KF chip breaker geometry is engineered for finishing cuts, producing controlled chip formation at light depths of cut up to 10.67 mm (0.4201 inches). The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to a range of toolholder configurations. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order. Typical applications include shaft turning, bore finishing, and contour passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting VBMT-style inserts with a screw-clamp holding method and a 0.1102-inch (2.80 mm) hole diameter. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and ANSI or ISO insert designation before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamp screw and seat the insert fully in the pocket before tightening — do not torque the clamp screw while the insert is unsupported. Inspect the pocket seat and clamp for wear or debris before installing a new insert, as a damaged pocket will affect insert life and surface finish.
