The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755507 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the VBMT style, designed for precision single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V) with a neutral hand orientation and a UF chip breaker geometry. The 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 1/64-inch corner radius (0.0156 inches) make it well suited for finishing and light to medium turning passes. Insert length is 0.4201 inches with a thickness of 3/32 inches (0.0938 inches). It is held in place by a screw-clamping method with a clearance code of B and tolerance code of M.
This insert is intended for turning steel and cast iron workpieces, with a primary workpiece material code of P (steel) and secondary code of K (cast iron). Typical applications include finishing operations on shafts, flanges, bores, and similar turned components in general metalworking, automotive, and industrial manufacturing environments. The UF chip breaker geometry is optimized for fine chip control at light depths of cut and higher feed rates. Machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production settings are the primary users of this insert. The uncoated 5015 carbide grade provides consistent edge sharpness on ferrous materials where coated grades may not be necessary.
Designed as an OEM-style insert for use with CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting VBMT-style inserts with a screw-clamping holding method. ISO code reference: VBMT 11 02 04-UF 5015. Confirm toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full lockout/tagout state before any toolholder access. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder specification — do not over-tighten, as this can cause insert fracture or seat damage. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw condition each time the insert is indexed. Dispose of used carbide inserts in accordance with applicable shop waste and material-handling procedures.
