The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755505 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn TR series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a diamond-shaped (60-degree) geometry with an TRVB1312F insert style and a manufacturer grade of 1125. The dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating is applied via PVD process, delivering thermal resistance and edge durability during interrupted and continuous cuts. With a 13.00 mm inscribed circle and a 3/64-inch (0.0469 inch) corner radius, this insert is suited for moderate to semi-finishing depths of cut. Installation and tooling selection is typically performed by a CNC machinist or tooling specialist.
This insert is primarily intended for machining steel (ISO code P) and secondarily for stainless steel (ISO code M) in production turning environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across right- and left-hand toolholders that accept the TRVB pocket style. The chip breaker designation F is optimized for finishing and light roughing passes. A maximum depth of cut of 11.80 mm (0.4646 inches) supports a wide range of turning applications in both job shop and production settings. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with CoroTurn TR series toolholders that accept the TRVB insert style and 1312 insert size code. Compatible with ISO P (steel) and ISO M (stainless steel) workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with indexable insert turning systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is securely fixtured before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key torque driver for the screw-clamping system per toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure accurate positioning.
