The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755495 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT21.50-UF 1125 designation, engineered for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 35-degree diamond insert shape with a 5-degree relief angle and a 0.20 mm (0.0079 inch) corner radius. The insert carries a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating applied via PVD process, delivering thermal resistance and edge durability during steel and multi-material cutting. With two usable cutting edges per insert, it is suited for high-efficiency finishing and semi-finishing passes. Machinists and toolroom professionals specify this insert for its precise geometry control under the UF chip breaker designation, which is optimized for light cuts and fine surface finishes.
This insert is designed for use in the CoroTurn 107 tooling system. Its primary workpiece material designation is steel (ISO code P), and it is also rated for stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M, N, S). Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling on CNC turning equipment in job shop, production, and aerospace machining environments. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible use in both right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations where the VBMT seat geometry is present.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept the VBMT insert style with a screw-on clamping method. ISO designation VBMT 11 02 02-UF 1125 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder seats and pockets.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop, locked-out condition before any insert change. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat and torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification for the CoroTurn 107 pocket. Inspect the insert seat and pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Do not use the insert beyond visible edge wear or chipping, as degraded cutting edges increase cutting forces and reduce workpiece quality.
