The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755483 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ISO designation VBMT 11 02 02-UF 5015, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a V insert shape code and a B clearance code. The uncoated 5015 grade carbide substrate is optimized for steel and cast iron applications where a sharp, bright cutting edge is required. With a 0.20 mm corner radius and a UF chip breaker geometry, it is suited for light finishing passes demanding close tolerances and fine surface finishes. Machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians install this insert in compatible VBMT screw-on tool holders.
This insert is engineered primarily for turning steel (ISO material code P) and secondarily for cast iron (ISO material code K). It fits applications in production turning where uncoated carbide is preferred over coated grades to maintain the sharpest possible edge geometry. The CoroTurn 107 series is a standard screw-clamping insert platform widely used in external turning, facing, and light profiling operations on small-to-medium diameter workpieces. The neutral hand orientation makes it usable in both left-hand and right-hand holder configurations depending on tool holder design.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamping tool holders accepting VBMT style inserts with a 2.80 mm hole diameter. Compatible with holders specified for ISO code VBMT 11 02 02. Verify holder seat dimensions and clamping screw thread before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the tool holder manufacturer's specified torque — do not over-torque, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert. Always index or replace both cutting edges before disposing of the insert body.
