The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755375 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBGT332-UM geometry, part of the CoroTurn 107 series. It features a 35-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch). The insert is coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 via a PVD coating process, providing wear resistance suited to steel and multi-material turning applications. With an inscribed circle of 0.3750 inches (3/8 inch) and an insert length of 0.6223 inches, this insert is designed for screw-held toolholders and delivers two cutting edges per insert. It is intended for installation by machinists and CNC turning professionals.
This insert is suited for external turning operations on steel as its primary workpiece material. It is also rated for use on stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, aligning with ISO material codes P, M, N, and S. The UM chip breaker geometry is designed for finishing and light to medium turning passes. Typical install scenarios include CNC lathes and manual turning centers in production and job-shop environments where consistent chip control and surface finish are required.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamping toolholders that accept VBGT-style inserts. ISO code VBGT 16 04 08-UM 1125. Compatible with applications involving steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), non-ferrous metals (ISO N), superalloys (ISO S), and titanium as secondary workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified for the CoroTurn 107 screw-clamp system to seat the insert securely without over-tightening. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout control.
