The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755292 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations. It carries the ISO designation TPMT 06 T1 02-MF 1125 and belongs to the CoroTurn 111 series. The insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 0.0079-inch (0.20 mm) corner radius, and a manufacturer grade of 1125. The dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating is applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear life suited for steel and stainless steel cutting applications. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators select this insert for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge precision is critical.
This insert is intended for use in CoroTurn 111 toolholders that accept TPMT-style inserts with a screw-holding method and a P clearance code. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for light finishing cuts, producing controlled chip formation on ductile materials. It fits both CNC and manual turning centers in residential shop and industrial production environments. Each insert provides 3 usable cutting edges, making it an economical choice for high-volume turning programs.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 111 series toolholders accepting TPMT insert style with screw clamping. Compatible with primary workpiece material steel (ISO code P) and secondary workpiece materials including stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium (ISO codes M, P, S). Insert size code 1.21.20 per ISO classification TPMT 06 T1 02-MF 1125.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder specification - do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure accurate seating and repeatable tool geometry.
