The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755280 is a TPMT-style cermet turning insert in the CoroTurn 111 series, designed for precision turning operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. It carries the ISO designation TPMT 06 T1 04-PF 5015 and features an uncoated, bright cermet substrate with the PF chipbreaker geometry. The triangular insert shape provides 3 cutting edges, a 60-degree included angle, and an 11-degree relief angle. With a corner radius of 0.40 mm (1/64 inches) and an inscribed circle of 6.35 mm (5/32 inches), it is suited for light to medium finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish are priorities. Installation uses a screw-holding method. The insert is neutral-hand and compatible with standard TPMT insert pockets.
This insert is intended for CNC lathe and turning center applications in production and job-shop environments. It is primarily specified for steel (ISO material code P) and secondarily for cast iron (ISO material code K). The PF chipbreaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts where controlled chip evacuation and dimensional accuracy are required. Machinists and CNC operators working with small-diameter or precision-tolerance steel components will find the 0.2441-inch maximum depth of cut appropriate for light roughing through finishing passes. The CoroTurn 111 series is a standard platform commonly found in production machining operations.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 111 series toolholders accepting TPMT insert style with screw clamping. Verified primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P) and secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO code K).
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder specification without overtightening, which can crack the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before indexing to a fresh cutting edge. Disposal of worn cermet inserts should follow applicable shop and local regulations for carbide and ceramic tooling waste.
