The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755182 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISO designation TRDC1308F1105 and is PVD-coated with TiAlN2 for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance at the cutting edge. The diamond-shaped insert (60-degree point angle) provides a strong cutting geometry with a 0.79 mm (1/32 inch) corner radius and a neutral hand orientation. With two cutting edges per insert and a screw-holding method, it suits production environments where consistent tool life and repeatable surface finish are priorities. Installation requires a compatible Sandvik CoroTurn TR toolholder.
This insert is engineered primarily for machining steel (ISO material code P) and is also rated for stainless steel (ISO material code M). It fits into the CoroTurn TR series toolholding system, which is common in both roughing and finishing turning applications on CNC equipment. The F chip breaker geometry is suited to finishing passes, supporting controlled chip formation at moderate feed rates. Maximum depth of cut is 12.20 mm (0.4803 inches). Typical users include CNC machinists and toolroom technicians working in manufacturing, job-shop, and production turning environments.
Designed for use with Sandvik CoroTurn TR series toolholders that accept TRDC-style inserts with a 1308 insert size code and screw-hole mounting (hole diameter 3.70 mm). Primary workpiece material compatibility is steel (ISO P); secondary compatibility is stainless steel (ISO M).
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician familiar with indexable insert toolholding systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
