The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753916 is a TNMG332-MF 1125 grade turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 60-degree triangle insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The substrate is solid carbide with a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied through a physical vapor deposition process. This coating combination delivers thermal resistance and edge stability when machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. With 6 usable cutting edges per insert, this part is a production-grade consumable used by machinists and turning specialists in job shop and manufacturing environments.
This insert is suited for medium finishing to light roughing passes on steel and multi-material workpieces. The MF chip breaker geometry is designed for controlled chip formation at moderate feed rates, making it appropriate for finishing operations where surface finish and chip evacuation are both priorities. The T-Max P series designation indicates it is optimized for steel turning applications as the primary use case, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is held in the toolholder by a clamp and pin system and fits standard TNMG-style toolholders with a 0.150-inch hole diameter.
Designed for use in TNMG-style clamp and pin toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.150-inch center hole. ISO designation TNMG 16 04 08-MF 1125. Part of the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P series for steel turning applications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Verify the toolholder pocket and clamping components are clean and free of chips before securing the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamp screw and confirm edge registration before resuming cuts.
