The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753549 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this left-hand insert delivers heat and wear resistance during interrupted cuts and continuous grooving passes. It carries a 2.39 mm (0.0940 inches) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 3.81 mm (0.1500 inches), making it well-suited for shallow-to-medium groove profiles. The TLRP chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action and reliable chip control across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with Top Lok compatible toolholders will find this insert a direct fit for production grooving work.
This insert is intended for use in production machining environments where repeatable groove geometry and dimensional accuracy are critical. The Top Lok series interface provides secure clamping in compatible grooving toolholders used on gang-tool lathes, Swiss-type machines, and conventional CNC turning centers. The left-hand orientation suits specific approach directions and toolholder configurations. With a corner radius of 1.19 mm (0.0470 inches) and a cutting height of 8.74 mm (0.3440 inches), this insert handles a range of groove widths within the 3.00 mm to 4.00 mm maximum depth of cut range. It is rated as a multi-use tool, supporting repeated indexing cycles before replacement.
Designed for use with Top Lok series compatible grooving toolholders. ISO code TLRP-3047L 1125 and manufacturers catalog number TLRP-3047L 1125 can be used to confirm toolholder compatibility. Insert seat size is 3L.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and all motion axes locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Top Lok clamping tool to seat and torque the insert according to the toolholder manufacturer's instructions. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for this insert grade and geometry.
