The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753354 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Top Lok series, this left-hand insert carries a TiCrAlN and TiAlN PVD coating applied over a grade 1125 carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The cutting width is 0.125 inches (3.17 mm) and the maximum depth of cut is 0.150 inches (3.81 mm). The neutral rake geometry with a 10-degree rake angle promotes clean chip formation and edge stability at moderate to high cutting speeds. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a production consumable in high-volume turning applications.
This insert is suited for grooving operations in both production and job-shop turning environments, including general-purpose groove-turning of steel, stainless steel, and cast materials. The TLGP insert style is compatible with Top Lok-style grooving toolholders and blade systems. The multi-use designation means the insert can be repositioned within the toolholder for extended service life. Typical applications include external groove profiles, snap-ring grooves, and undercuts where controlled width and depth tolerances are required.
Designed for use with Top Lok series grooving toolholders and blade bodies accepting TLGP-style inserts at insert seat size 3. ISO code TLGP-3125L 1125 and manufacturers catalog number TLGP-3125L 1125 can be used to cross-reference compatible tooling systems.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle and all axes must be powered down and the turret locked out before seating or removing inserts. Use a torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten by feel alone; follow the toolholder OEM clamping specification. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before returning the machine to cycle.
