The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753274 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TiCrAlN and TiAlN PVD coating applied via physical vapor deposition, which provides wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. The insert is left-hand orientation with a neutral rake angle of 10 degrees and a cutting width of 1.57 mm (0.062 inches). Maximum depth of cut is 2.39 mm (0.094 inches). It belongs to the Top Lok series and is sized as an Insert Size 3, fitting the corresponding Top Lok toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary users.
This insert is suited for grooving applications on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials in both light and moderate production environments. The Top Lok series is typically found on CNC turning centers where secure insert clamping and repeatable positioning are required. The left-hand configuration directs cutting forces appropriately for specific spindle rotation and toolholder orientation setups. The PVD coating process preserves edge sharpness, making this insert well-matched to finishing and semi-finishing groove profiles where dimensional accuracy of the groove width is critical.
Designed for use with Top Lok series toolholders accepting an Insert Size 3 seat. ISO code TLGP-3062L 1125 and catalog number TLGP-3062L 1125 identify the precise holder and seat geometry required. Verify toolholder hand and seat size before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate Top Lok clamping mechanism and torque the clamp screw only to the toolholder manufacturer specification found in the toolholder documentation — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
