The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753050 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Top Lok series standard, this right-hand insert carries a manufacturer grade of 1125 and a PVD-applied dual-layer TiCrAlN and TiAlN coating for extended tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The insert delivers a cutting width of 3.96 mm (0.156 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 3.81 mm (0.150 inches), with a neutral rake angle of 10 degrees and a corner radius of 0.19 mm. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians working in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for grooving operations in both high-volume production and job-shop turning applications. The TiCrAlN and TiAlN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection when cutting steel, stainless, and similar alloy workpieces. The 1125 grade is positioned for general-purpose grooving with stable chip control. The multi-use designation indicates the insert can be applied across compatible Top Lok series toolholders in a range of turning setups. Typical applications include external groove profiling and part-off operations on horizontal and vertical turning machines.
Designed for use with Top Lok series grooving toolholders accepting insert seat size 3. ISO code TLGP-3156R 1125 and catalog number TLGP-3156R 1125 apply for toolholder matching. Verify toolholder insert pocket size and hand orientation before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully into the Top Lok pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification found in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating to ensure proper contact and prevent premature insert failure. Do not force an insert into a pocket that does not match the designated seat size or hand orientation.
