The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752887 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert in a triangular (TCMT) geometry, designed for use in indexable insert drills in metalcutting operations. It carries a manufacturer grade designation of 235 and features a CVD-applied TiCN/TiN dual-layer coating that provides wear resistance and extended tool life in demanding drilling applications. The insert has a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.1875 inches, and a corner radius of 1.20 mm (0.0472 inches). It is sized and geometrically configured for center or peripheral positioning in compatible indexable drill bodies used in turning centers and machining centers.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials on CNC lathes, turning centers, and vertical or horizontal machining centers. The TCMT style with chipbreaker designation 56 and a 7-degree relief angle provides clearance geometry appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in production environments. Installation and replacement are performed by machinists and tooling technicians as part of routine insert indexing during production runs. The insert size designation is 22, corresponding to a 12.70 mm length and inscribed circle.
Designed as an OEM-style indexable insert replacement for compatible SANDVIK COROMANT indexable drill bodies accepting TCMT-style inserts with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and insert size 22.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer when seating the insert clamp screw — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for debris or damage before installing a new insert. Confirm insert orientation and chipbreaker positioning against the drill body documentation before resuming cutting operations.
