The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752801 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert carries a TCMT geometry with a 60-degree triangular shape and a neutral hand orientation. The CVD-applied multilayer coating stack - TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN - delivers hardness, thermal resistance, and wear protection suited to demanding cutting conditions. The insert measures 0.618 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, providing a well-defined cutting edge profile for medium-duty turning passes. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a screw-held, indexable tooling component.
This insert is optimized for stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material code M. The MR chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage the stringy, work-hardening chips that stainless steel produces, reducing cutting forces and supporting consistent surface finish. It is suited to external turning applications in production environments where dimensional accuracy and tool life consistency are priorities. Three cutting edges are available per insert, supporting cost-effective indexing before replacement. The CoroTurn 107 screw-clamped toolholder system provides the rigid, repeatable seat this insert requires.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamped toolholders accepting TCMT-style inserts. ISO insert code TCMT 16 T3 08-MR 2025. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw - follow the toolholder manufacturer's fastener specification. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination will cause edge runout and premature failure.
