The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752476 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TCMT221-MM 1125 designation, part of the CoroTurn 107 series. This triangular insert features a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, combining wear resistance with thermal stability for demanding turning operations. The neutral hand orientation and MM chip breaker geometry suit continuous and interrupted cuts on steel and stainless steel. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a 60-degree included angle, this insert is sized for light-to-medium depth-of-cut passes on CNC lathes and turning centers. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert using the screw-holding method standard to the CoroTurn 107 toolholder system.
This insert is designed for primary use on steel workpieces and is also suited for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium applications. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation during finishing and semi-finishing passes. The CoroTurn 107 series is widely used in production turning environments where consistent insert indexing and repeatable surface finish are required. Three cutting edges per insert are available before replacement, supporting cost-effective tool management in high-volume turning operations.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting TCMT-style triangular inserts with a C clearance code and M tolerance code. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys (S), and titanium.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle stopped, the program paused, and all axis motion locked out per the machine tool's lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the insert pocket and screw threads for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Index to an unused cutting edge before replacing the insert entirely to maximize the three available edges.
