The SANDVIK COROMANT 5751733 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. This left-hand insert belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series and carries grade 1115, a PVD-coated carbide grade featuring a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 multilayer coating that resists heat and edge wear in demanding cuts. The triangular insert shape provides three cutting edges, and the K chipbreaker geometry controls chip flow on tough-to-machine materials. The 0.40 mm corner radius and 7-degree relief angle support clean, low-force finishing and semi-finishing cuts on close-tolerance components.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and lathes where light to moderate depths of cut are required on stainless steel and exotic alloys. The left-hand orientation positions the cutting edge for specific spindle directions and toolholder configurations common in precision turning cells. A screw-clamp insert holding method keeps the insert seated rigidly under the interrupted and continuous cuts typical in aerospace, medical, and industrial component machining. Maximum depth of cut reaches 6.22 mm (0.2449 inches), making it versatile across finishing and light roughing passes.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept TCGT-style inserts with a 1.21.21 size code and left-hand geometry. ISO designation TCGT 06 T1 04L-K 1115. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M); secondary workpiece materials include superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S).
Installation of this insert should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with indexable carbide tooling. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper support and edge alignment.
