The SANDVIK COROMANT 5751433 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. This SPUN-style square insert features a 90-degree included angle, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius. The insert carries a dual TiCN and TiN coating over the carbide substrate, applied in manufacturer grade 235. At 0.4685 inch in length and 0.125 inch in thickness, it fits standard SPUN toolholders with a clamp-style holding method. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians working in production turning applications will recognize this as an ISO-coded insert suited for general-purpose and semi-finishing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This insert is used in external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes where a square insert geometry is required. The SPUN 12 03 08 235 ISO designation makes it straightforward to cross-reference against toolholder catalogs. The chip breaker code N indicates a flat top geometry without a molded chipbreaker, which suits applications where chip control is managed through feed and depth-of-cut parameters rather than insert geometry. It is appropriate for both light and moderate stock removal in shop and production environments.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement turning insert for SPUN-style toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch inscribed circle square insert per ISO SPUN 12 03 08 standards. Verify toolholder seat and clamp compatibility before installation.
Turning inserts are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten, as this can chip the carbide. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamp for damage or debris before seating the new insert.
