The SANDVIK COROMANT 5748337 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a TiAlN coating, this drill delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in production environments. It runs in the right-hand cutting direction with a 140-degree self-centering point and two spiral flutes for efficient chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 10.00 mm (0.3937 inches) in diameter, and the overall length is 4.7244 inches. Licensed machine operators and CNC machinists are the primary installers of this tool.
This drill is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to material codes P, M, K, N, and S. It is built to an 8xD flute-by-diameter ratio, allowing a maximum drilling depth of 2.9528 inches. The Series R840 designation and DIN 6535HA shank specification make this drill a direct fit for standard toolholders accepting straight-cylindrical shanks. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed, deep-hole operations where heat buildup and chip packing are primary concerns.
Compatible with standard toolholders and chucks accepting a 10.00 mm (0.3937 inches) straight-cylindrical shank per DIN 6535HA. Suitable for drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, N, S). Designed for CNC machining centers and drill presses capable of coolant-through operation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before loading or removing the drill. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder to the manufacturer-specified gauge line before tightening to avoid runout. When using coolant-through capability, confirm that coolant pressure and flow rate are set within the machine tool specifications before initiating the cycle.
