The SANDVIK COROMANT 5747652 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R590 series face and shoulder milling cutter bodies. Carrying manufacturer grade H10 and material grade N10, this uncoated bright-finish insert is engineered for cutting cast iron and non-ferrous metals where a sharp, free-cutting edge is required. The parallelogram insert shape with a positive 25-degree rake angle and corner-rounded cutting edge style reduces cutting forces and promotes clean chip evacuation. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the screw-in holding method locks the insert securely in the cutter pocket. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This insert fits R590 series milling cutter bodies and is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and pocketing operations on cast iron and non-ferrous metal workpieces. With a maximum depth of cut of 10.00 mm (0.3937 inches) and a right-hand orientation, it is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes in horizontal and vertical machining centers. The insert size code 110504 and ANSI/ISO designation R590-110504H-NL H10 identify the exact seat geometry required in a compatible R590 tool body. Applications span automotive, general engineering, and light-alloy machining where workpiece surface finish and tool life consistency are priorities.

Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the R590 cutter body documentation to achieve correct screw clamp force — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation matches the right-hand designation before resuming cutting operations.
