The SANDVIK COROMANT 5747601 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R590 series face and shoulder milling cutters. Carrying the manufacturer grade H10 and material grade N10, this uncoated bright-finish insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive 20-degree rake angle and a wiper cutting edge style. It measures 11.00 mm wide and 5.00 mm thick, with a corner radius of 0.40 mm. The single-sided, right-hand insert is held in the cutter body by a screw and offers one cutting edge per insert. It is suited for high-accuracy surface finish passes on cast iron and non-ferrous metal workpieces.
This insert is intended for use in machining applications where surface finish quality and dimensional control are priorities. The NW chip breaker geometry is optimized for wiper-style finishing cuts, making it appropriate for production milling operations on cast iron components and non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper alloys. It is installed in compatible R590 series milling cutter bodies by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The ANSI and ISO designations both read R590-110504H-NW H10, confirming dual-standard traceability.
Designed for use with R590 series milling cutter bodies. Cutter series compatibility is confirmed as R590. Consult the cutter body documentation to verify insert pocket geometry and screw specification before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the recommended torque — do not over-torque, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamp load. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before fitting the new insert. Verify insert orientation matches the right-hand designation of the cutter body pocket before resuming cutting operations.
