The SANDVIK COROMANT 5745675 is a solid carbide milling insert in grade 4220, designed for high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations. Carrying a CVD-applied tri-layer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding cutting conditions. The parallelogram insert shape with a positive 20-degree rake angle reduces cutting forces and promotes clean chip evacuation. With an inscribed circle of 6.80 mm, a thickness of 3.59 mm, and a corner radius of 0.80 mm, this insert is sized to the R390-11T308 insert size code. It is held in place by a screw and is rated for a maximum depth of cut of 10.00 mm. Installation and application are handled by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is suited for milling steel, cast iron, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, K, and H. Typical applications include shoulder milling and face milling operations on machining centers where consistent tool life and dimensional accuracy are required. The PM chip breaker geometry supports stable cutting in both roughing and semi-finishing passes on steel and cast iron workpieces. The insert is compatible with the M-32 and R390 cutter series. Right-hand cutting orientation is standard for this part.
Compatible with the R390 and M-32 cutter series. Insert size code is R390-11 T3 08M-PM 4220, conforming to both ANSI and ISO standards. Designed for use in screw-lock toolholders accepting R390-series inserts.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw - do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw condition before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
