The SANDVIK COROMANT 5745656 is a solid carbide milling insert in grade 1025, designed for use in shoulder milling and face milling operations. It carries a dual PVD coating of TiCN and TiN, which supports cutting performance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a wiper cutting edge style, a positive rake geometry, and a single cutting edge. It measures 3.59 mm thick and 6.80 mm across the inscribed circle, with a corner radius of 0.80 mm. The insert size code is 11T308 and corresponds to ANSI and ISO designation R390-11 T3 08E-PLW 1025. This insert is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC milling applications.
This insert is suited for both roughing and finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is designed for right-hand cutting and seats via screw holding into compatible milling cutter bodies in the R390 and M-32 series. The PLW chip breaker geometry supports chip control across the listed material groups. Maximum depth of cut is 10.00 mm. Typical applications include shoulder milling, ramping, and helical interpolation in production and job-shop environments.
Compatible with R390 and M-32 series milling cutter bodies as stated by the manufacturer. Insert size code 11T308 with an inscribed circle ranging from 0.2500 to 0.3000 decimal inch and a length range of 0.3200 to 0.4000 decimal inch.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to secure the clamping screw to the proper seating torque per that cutter body documentation. Inspect the pocket seat for debris or damage before installing a new insert to ensure full contact and accurate positioning.
